Process: Vacuum resin infusion line in Adelanto plant running approximately 1,300 lb of unsaturated polyester resin to produce a railcar roof. The resin monomer is styrene and the monomer content of the resin was 35% wt styrene as run.

Method: Hydrocarbon emissions from the vacuum pump exhaust were determined. Method 25A was employed using an FID calibrated against propane standards. Because all emissions are drawn through the vacuum pump, the process is considered self-enclosed with capture efficiency of 100%. Simultaneous ambient HC measurement was performed.

Test Description: The test was run April 30 - May 3, 2001. There were four parts run, one each day. Each part was kept under vacuum (24" Hg) overnight (far longer than normal) to ensure that all possible VOC emitted was sampled.
